Digit Deduction Interactive Game

  • Product Details
  • Additional Information

Digit Deduction is a fun math game that has students use math vocabulary and deductive reasoning to guess mystery numbers!

In this game, students are given hints that use key math terms (like sum, difference, product, quotient, square, cube, etc.) that they can use to guess the mystery number. Once they submit a guess, a pie chart fills in letting them know how many of the digits that they guessed are correct, how many are in the number but the wrong place, and how many are not in the number at all. They then use this information to help them with their next guess. They can also generate additional hints if they would like. The goal is to determine the mystery number in as few attempts as possible.

There are three difficulty levels – 4 digit number, 5 digit number, and 6 digit number, so you can play at the level that is right for your class. You can play this game over and over again and it will generate a new mystery number and new hints each and every time!!

Included in the zip folder is the game (which is an htm file), and instructions on how to get the game running on your computer. A “how to play” screen is included in the game.

Digit Deduction is a great game for early finishers or for the whole class to play when you have a few spare minutes. It’s also a great way to reinforce the skill of translating verbal phrases to mathematical ones and to encourage your students to use logic and deductive reasoning. It’s a fun game to play any time on your SmartBoard, Mimio, StarBoard, Promethean Board, chromebooks, IPADs, or on any computer as a center or station activity!
