Noggle Interactive Game
Noggle is a fun math game that has students using basic operations and/or the order of operations to write expressions equal to a given number!
In this game, students can use addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and/or parentheses in the expressions they write that have the given answer. They have 3 minutes to write as many expressions as possible. (You have the ability to change the time limit to 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes if you choose, as well).
There are two modes to the math game – one that uses only positive numbers and one that uses both positive and negative numbers. There is a language arts mode included as well, that uses letters. Teachers can use this version in any way they choose.
The game is animated to look like the board is being shaken each time you play and will generate different numbers/letters each time. You can play this game over and over again and it will generate a new game each and every time!!
Included in the zip folder is the game (which is an htm file), a student worksheet to accompany the game, and instructions.
Noggle is an excellent review of the order of operations (PEMDAS) and a great culminating activity for a unit on integers. It’s a great critical thinking game to play any time on your SmartBoard, Mimio, StarBoard, Promethean Board, chromebooks, IPADs, or on any computer as a center or station activity!
